Le fort de Schenck. Place admirable par ses fortifications et par sa situation avantageuse a la pointe du Betau, dns l'endroit ou le Rhin se partage et fait deux branches dont l'une prend le nom de Vahal. Le Prince d'Orange Frederic Henry s'est rendu fameux pour l'avoir repris sur les Espagnols apres un siege de huit mois. Le vicomte de Turenne s'en rendit maistre en quatre heures de tranchée ouverte, le 19. de Iuin 1672
